Letter not found. For the text given here, see Age, 25 April 1862, p. 5, in a report of the meeting of the Council of the Acclimatisation Society of Victoria, 24 April 1862. The letter is dated to February 1862, the earliest it could have been written; the Kent sailed from Plymouth on 27 February 1862 (Argus, 12 May 1862, p. 4, col. c). Kent arrived in Melbourne on 3 June (Argus, 4 June 1862, p. 4).
