My dear Sir.
It shall aford me the utmost pleasure to send you a number of phanerogamic and cryptogamic plants, whenever I have an opportunity of dividing duplicates and when I have leisure to form collections for interchanges. I have recently forwarded several rather large consignments of algae to our mutual friend Professor Harvey, from which he could easily supply you with specimens. They are sent by me in a crude unprepared state, but contain many excellent specimens.
The greatest difficulty I experience in having no agent in London, to tranship collections and I would therefore request that the Consul General of France in London may be induced to undertake the transshipments. We have always opportunity with the clipper ships to send to London, but no direct and safe and inexpensive opportunity of sending large parcels to your country.
With sentiments of
high regard,
dear Sir,
yours
Ferd. Mueller,
M.D.
