Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de Société Impériale Zoologique d'Acclimatation ,, vol. 8 (1861), p. 516. The letter may have been written to Ramel and forwarded by him to the Society. It is dated to July as the latest date that it could have been sent to be reported at the meeting of 26 September 1861, the same meeting at which the extract from M to P. Ramel, 25 July 1861 (in this edition as 61-07-25b) was read.
[M. le Président fait connaître diverses communications relatives à la souscription pour la statue de Daubenton, parmi lesquelles il signale une lettre de M. le Secrétaire général de la Société protectrice des animaux …, annonçant la délibération par laquelle cette Société a voulu concourir à cet hommage de reconnaissance publique; une lettre par laquelle M. Drouyn de Lhuys transmet la décision du conseil général du département de l'Aisne qui, sur la proposition de M. Georges, rapporteur de la commissîon d'agriculture et du commerce, a voté une allocation importante; des lettres et des circulaires imprimées qui témoignent des louables efforts faits par M. Saint-Amour dans les départements du Nord et du Pas-de-Calais, et une lettre de M. Jomard, ainsi qu'une autre de M. Mueller, écrite de Melbourne et transmise par M. Ramel.]
[The President made known various communications relating to the subscription for the statue of Daubenton,

First director of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, who died in 1799. The statue, which includes a Merino sheep reflecting Daubenton’s importance to the French wool industry, was unveiled in the garden of the Society on13 November 1864.
