Letter not found. The text given here is from the minutes of the meeting of the Belfast
Municipal Council held on 5 June 1861.
A letter from H. Hedges, Superintendent of the local Botanic Garden, had been read
at the Council meeting of 22 May 1861, 'suggesting that Dr Mueller be applied for some Botanical
seeds and cuttings in accordance with advertis[ement] in Govt Gazette' (Minute book 2, Belfast Municipal Council records). The advertisement 'Plants, &c for distribution', appeared in

At the Council meeting on 12 June 1861, a letter was read from Mr. Watson, Flinders Lane, Melbourne, which intimated that he had received a case of plants and seeds from M and forwarded
them to Belfast (now Port Fairy) by steamer (Minute book 2, Belfast Municipal Council records;
Banner of Belfast, 18 June 1861, p. 3).
