At meetings of the Trustees on 9 April and 4 June 1861, reports from the gardener were read recommending application to M for seeds and seedlings (Minute book 1, Melbourne General Cemetery).

that he would allow them to have 500 more seedling pines and 500 more seedling cypress.

The Gardener's report which was read at the Trustee's meeting of 2 July stated that he had received from M 1100 seedling pines and cypress, which had been planted in the nursery, and also a collection of seeds.
