31st May 1861
My dear Sir
I will bring [both] the matters to which your note of yesterday refers
under the notice of the proper Committees and will apprise you of the result as soon
as possible.
1
M to E. FitzGibbon, 30 May 1861.
In the matter of of the tree guards especially I should have expected but little difficulty
only that we are just at present miserably crippled in respect to pecuniary resources
2
M's letter was read at a meeting of the Melbourne City Council Public Works Committee
on 4 June 1861. The Town Clerk was instructed to reply 'that such labor cannot be
supplied by the council' (Unit 4, p. 247, VPRS 4037, Public Record Office, Victoria).
Yours very faithfully
E. G. FitzGibbon
Town Clerk
Dr. F. Mueller
