My dear Sir
Permit me to apologise for having left your note unanswered.
I was unable to give any certain assurance of possession of the site of the tent to
the good man who brought your note to me.

M to E. FitzGibbon, 12 April 1861.
In reference to the tree guards the City Surveyor will be happy to deliver the materials
of them, uprights, rails, battens &c, to any person whom you may send to the Town
Hall for them.

A reminder of the promise to supply the tree guards was made in M to E. FitzGibbon, 30 April 1861; this letter was acknowledged in M to E. FitzGibbon, 6 May 1861.
Yours very faithfully
