Monsieur et cher Collègue
La Société Impériale d'acclimatation, par l'article 4 de ses statuts constitutifs,
a autorisé son Bureau à lui présenter, comme Membres honoraires, les personnes qui,
par leurs travaux, leurs voyages ou leur séjour à l'étranger, ont rendu de grands
services, au point de vue des questions dont elle s'occupe
Le titre de Membre honoraire a été placé, depuis, au premier rang des récompenses
que la Société décerne chaque année.
J'ai l'honneur de vous informer que, sur la présentation faite, au nom du Bureau et
de la Commission de Récompenses, par son président, la Société Impériale d'acclimatation
vous a décerné le titre de Membre honoraire, dans sa séance solennelle qui a eu lieu,
le 14 de ce mois, à l'Hotel de Ville.
Nous espérons que vous voudrez bien accepter ce témoignage de la reconnaissance de
notre Société pour les immenses services que vous avez rendus à la cause de l'acclimatation,
dans la Direction du Jardin botanique et zoologique de Melbourne qui doit à votre
zèle et à vos soins ses rapides développements.
Je suis heureux, Monsieur et Cher collègue, d'être, en cette circonstance l'organe
de la Société et de pouvoir vous offrir, avec l'expression de sa vive gratitude, l'assurance
de ma considération la plus distinguée.

Dear Colleague
The Imperial Acclimatisation Society, by article 4 of its statutes, has authorized
its Board to propose, as Honorary Members, people who by their works, their travels
or their sojourn abroad, have rendered great services in relation to the questions
that concern it.
The title of Honorary Member has since then been in the first rank of the awards that
the Society grants each year.
I have the honour of informing you that, on the recommendation made in the name of
the Board and the Commission on Awards by the President, the Imperial Acclimatisation
Society at its solemn meeting held on the 14th of this month at the Town Hall has
granted you the title of Honorary Member.

We hope that you will be willing to accept this testimony of the gratitude of our
Society for the immense services you have rendered to the cause of acclimatization
as Director of the Melbourne Botanic and Zoological Garden, the rapid development
of which is due to your zeal and attention.

you, with its lively gratitude, my deepest respects.
