[The Bridge at the Gardens not being opened in terms of the above arrangement

The Committee had received a report from John Steavenson, Commissioner of Roads and Bridges, that included the statement: 'With regard to the Botanical Gardens Bridge. I have the honour to inform you that I arranged with Dr Müeller that it should be thrown open to the Public yesterday, the 15th instant, and kept open at all hours' (No. 20/505, Unit 731, VPRS 3181/P Town Clerk's file series 1, VA 511 Melbourne, Public Record Office, Victoria).
