I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to permit the insertion of the byefollowing advertisement in the Gov. Gazette.

While the original manuscript of the advertisement has not been found, the file cover confirms that it was 'relative to a supply of seeds of the Teaplant'. The advertisement was inserted in Victoria Government Gazette, 18 January 1861, p. 103 (B61.01.01); M offered to supply on personal application 'fresh seeds of the Chinese tea-plant … received from His Excellency Sir H. G. R. Robinson, Governor of Hong Kong, for the purpose of initiating the culture of tea in Australia'.
