Letter not found. The text given here is from Bulletin de la Société Impériale Zoologique d'Acclimatation, vol. 8 (1861), p. 216. It is dated to January as this is the latest likely date that it could have been sent to enable Ramel to report it to the meeting of the Society held on 19 April 1861.
[M. Ramel fait parvenir l'extrait d'une lettre de M. Mueller, de Melbourne, qui s'occupe activement de préparer l'envoi de nombreux animaux ou végétaux, et qui pense pouvoir y joindre un des plus curieux oiseaux d'ornement, la Lyre, qu'on n'a pas encore vu en Europe.]
[Mr Ramel sends a n extract from a letter from Mr Mueller of Melbourne, who is actively preparing for dispatch numerous animals or plants, and who thinks he will be able to include one of the most curious ornamental birds, the Lyre , which has not yet been seen in Europe.
