Dear Mr Davenport
I have to express to you my best thanks for your kindness of sending me the useful
seeds this day by the "Corong". I will give them a fair trial in my experimental ground.
I will be very happy to
supply you with all the varieties of the White Mulberry
, when they shed their leaves again, which will be about the end of April next year.
Perhaps you will have ground prepared for their reception then & let me know then
the precise time when I shall send them. I have to be grateful to you & Mrs Davenport
for the kind sentiments which you cherish for my poor sister Bertha. Her two children
are lovely and gifted and are, I am glad, enjoying good health, having the benefit
of growing up in a healthy rural district.
I am not aware of the existence of a great work of superior merit on the culture of the Orange, though there are numerous stray articles on the subject. If I can find one out, I will send it to you. Of the Ampelographie you refer to a copy is in the possession of an acquaintance of mine, altho it ought
to be in the public Library

There were several works with the title including 'Ampélographe'. For example Bleadale (1881)
utilizes, without formal citation, works by Odart, possibly Odart (1859), Rendu, possibly Rendu (1857), and others. A copy of Odart (1859) is listed in the catalogue published by the Public Library, Museums and National Gallery (1861), p. 322, so may not be the work Davenport enquired about.
Ever with the kindest regard for you & Mrs Davenport,
I remain,
your attached
Ferd. Mueller.
