The loan of two alpaca bucks from Sydney had been recommended by the Zoological Garden Committee (see M to W. Nicholson, 1 August 1860 (in this edition as 60-08-01c)). The loan was approved by the NSW Government on 5 September, and reported in J. Moore to M, 3 October 1860.
The Committee of the Zoological Gardens sought approval to advertise the availability of the bucks for breeding in M to J. Moore, 5 November 1860 (in this edition as 60-11-05a) and the advertisement appeared in the Government Gazette (No. 142), 9 November 1860, p. 2138 (B60.11.02).
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient and humble servant
Ferd. Mueller
The honorable the Chief Secretary
