Melbourne bot. & zool. Garden,
31 Aug. 60.
Sir
I have the honor to solicit, that you will be pleased to permit me expending the sum
of eighty pound Sterling, set apart under authority No. 222 for the payment of small
repairs &c, in defraying ordinary wages for gardenwork during this and the following
quarter of the year, the pressure of ground-work in this establishment during the
season rendering it preferable to postpone some smaller mechanics works, for which
the above sum was intended, til a later period.
I beg also to solicit, that the unexpended balance, left from the labor vote under
authority C.S. No. 22 &143
amounting to £64. 1. - may be added to the additional labourvote, solicited for on this occasion.

Annotated respectively in another hand, '£63.13.6' and '7/6'.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient servant
Ferd. Mueller.
The honorable the Chief Secretary.
