Dear Sir,
Since you had the goodness to write to me,
I have waited on Mr Service respecting the depasturing of the reserve next to my
establishment, and have learnt that his Honor is inclined to let it on lease in order
to raise some revenue from the ground.

Whenever a final decision is arrived at in reference to the matter I will do myself
the honor of communicating with you.

On 3 August 1860, Standish referred M's letter to Frederick Winch, Depot Superintendent,
'for the Vety [Veterinary] Surgeon's information. The horses will of course
not
be turned out in the reserve as I directed verbally this morning'. Winch duly passed
the letter on to the Veterinary Surgeon for his 'information and guidance', and then
returned it to Standish.
