On 28 June 1860 the Under Secretary, J. Moore, asked: 'Dr Mueller will oblige by so
altering the account as to make the claimants'
signature
and
names
agree, as I do not think the Treasury would pass it otherwise.' M replied on 7 July:
'Altered account submitted accord to Mr Moore's request'. Moore responded in an undated
minute, 'Dear Sir, Is it not the same account that you have returned?', to which M
replied on 19 July 1860: 'My dear Mr. Moore, I am under the impression, that I forwarded, along with the
old account, an altered one. I returned the old one, because it bore your No.'.
