[Dr. F. Mueller, Director of the Government Botanical and Zoological Garden at Melbourne
(Australia), wrote on 17 June to acknowledge receipt of the case of seed sent to him
from Algiers by Mr Hardy, at the request of the Society and through its intervention.
Unfortunately these seeds reached him in a state that leaves him but little hope of
saving some of them. He therefore asks that a new sending be made to him of species
that he indicates, and renews his offers of benevolent assistance for all that the
Society may desire; he announces that he is sending to Mr Hardy, in return, a box
of seeds of plants the introduction of which into Algeria seems to him possible and
desirable.
