[Mr Ramel forwarded … a copy translated into French of a letter addressed to him by
Dr Ferdinand Mueller, director of the Botanic and Zoological Garden of Melbourne (Australia),
dated 24 April last. After having thanked Mr Ramel for a box of seeds of the western
Plane tree that he sent him, Mr Mueller expressed to him his hope of shortly making
a first sending of plants and animals to the Imperial Society of Acclimatation, whose
aim of universal benefit struck him keenly and to which he will always be eager to
give his most active co-operation.]
