Sir,
I had the honor of adressing a telegraphic message to you yesterday,
on the subject of the anticipated arrival of 30000 Salmon ova from Liverpool for
this Colony by way of Melbourne.

The only information that I am at present in possession of respecting the ova is that
contained in my telegram, viz, a passage in a letter dated the

in Liverpool by 20 February 1860 (Youl (1860)).
"I am off to Liverpool to ship 30,000 Salmon ova just obtained for me in Wales; they
go to Melbourne please make arrangements to receive them"
I anticipate receiving by the next mail detailed information as to the actual shipment,
&c. but should the possible contingency occur of the arrival of the ova by some clipper
vessel before the receipt of a further communication from me, the Government would
feel much obliged if you would kindly act as their agent to receive the ova, & forward
them in charge of some responsible person to Hobart Town, either by the Steamer, or,
should no Steamer be on the berth, by some sailing vessel.
