Charles Ledger? At the meeting of the Exploration Committee held on 30 May 1859, the secretary read a letter from Chas. Ledger Esq containing the offer, as a contribution to the Expedition, of 10 lbs of Coca leaves used by the Mexicans & others for warding off hunger and thirst. Thanks were voted to Mr Ledger. (Box 2088B/1, online as [http://handle.slv.vic.gov.au/10381/163008] . Minute book, Royal Society of Victoria, Exploration Committee, p. 27).
the parcel was originally made up for the Victorian Expedition, but as they neither applied for it, nor answered my letter concerning it — the parcel was placed at my disposal by Mr Ledger — and I have made several small presents of some of its contents — the remainder I have much pleasure in forwarding to your better care
Yours truly
E Wrench
Dr Fred
