My dear Dr Macadam
My engagements to day are such as do not admit of my attending at the Council of the
R.S.
Would you be so kind as to move the motion standing in my name, that Mr Rawlinson,
Mr Osborne & myself may be appointed to report on the best means to drain the hall.
1
Royal Society (of Victoria).
I trust you will have your volume of transactions ready by the 10th. Our report on
the resources can be issued, I think, by the time, indeed a day or two before, so
that it may be bound up in the volume.

Vol. 4, Part 1 of the Transactions of the Philosophical Institute of Victoria was already in print, having been issued between 30 November and 21 December 1859
(Aston (1984)). M’s hopes notwithstanding, Part 2 was not published until June 1860.
In the meantime, the Society’s Report on the resources of the Colony of Victoria was issued by the Government Printer in April 1860 (see M to W. Hooker, 20 April 1860), with copies being included in bound copies of vol. 4 of the Transactions as an appendix, once Part 2 was issued.
Most regardfully
yours
Ferd. Mueller
Pray let me have notice of the price fixed on vol. IV, 1 of our transact, as I am
in arrear for a few copies, which I distributed.
