Letter not found. The text given here is from a report of the meeting of the committee of the Geelong and Western District Agricultural and Horticultural Society held on 6 December 1859 (Geelong advertiser, 7 December 1859, p. 2).
[A communication was likewise read from Dr Mueller, on behalf of the Philosophical Institute of Victoria, craving information from the society as to the quality of the soil, the kinds of crops mostly raised, the quantity of grain &c. produced, and how much is imported into the district, how much of the land in this quarter is under cultivation, &c. The committee agreed that they would consider the matter, and come prepared with answers to the next meeting on the 3rd January.
