Melbourne bot. & zool Garden,
23. Sept. 59
My dear Mr Tyers.
The seeds belonging to your department are all sown except the lots left for the park-nursery,
which is at the average 1/4 of the whole. If the arrangements for sowing this remainder
is made by the Park Gardeners, please let them fetch the seeds now, as the sowing
season will soon be passed. If there are no conveniences for sowing them at the parks,
I will gladly sow the rest in our nursery.
yours most regardfully
Ferd. Mueller.

N. Bickford, Head Crown Ranger, was asked on 27 September: 'Is there accommodation
in the Parks for the seeds &c herein referred to?' Bickford replied on 28 September:
'No — all the prepared ground was taken up by the seeds supplied by Dr Mueller a short
time since and we have not had sufficient means to prepare any new beds'.
