My dear Sir —
The great Humboldt, had he been spared to us, would have attained this day his 90th year. Very considerately the German Association has chosen this day for a solemn festival in memory of him whom we must regard as the greatest genius of this century. Responding on this occasion to a request of my countrymen, to deliver one of the necrologs,
