I have the honor to solicit on behalf of the Council of the philosophical Institute
of Victoria, that you will be pleased to place at the Councils disposal the sum of
£2000, two thousand pounds Sterling, voted by the Legislative Assembly as a Grant
for building purposes to the phil. Institute.
The Council has accepted already a tender for its future hall, and the erection of
it will immediately be proceeded with.

On 7 July 1859 the Under Secretary, J. Moore, stated: 'Dr Mueller will perceive from
the papers that the amount has been authorized by the Chief Secretary. The Treasurer
of the Institute furnished an a/c which was passed to the Treasury on the 14 June'.
M 'Gratefully returned' the papers on 9 July.
