Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Pasture grasses and the Farmers' Club', Adelaide observer, 23 July 1859 (B59.07.05). The item is a letter to the Editor from C. H. Taylor dated 18 July 1859 concerning the identity of a pasture grass, samples of which, together with seeds, he had forwarded the previous winter to M, and to whom Taylor wrote to ask for his opinion. Taylor concluded 'The enclosed letter is his reply, and I will thank you to publish it with this in your valuable journal.' M's letter is introduced by 'The following is the letter above referred to:—'.

I am much gratified to inform you that the so-called Californian prairie grass (a species indigenous to a great part of North and South America), of Humboldt, is well deserving of the praise which it earned in your colony as a prolific fodder-plant.
