By desire of the Chief Secy I have the honor to bring under yr notice the subjoined copy of a letter which has been addressed to the office by the Chief Secretary at Adelaide

On 11 March 1859 the Chief Secretary, SA, wrote to Victoria's Chief Secretary, requesting that the thanks of the South Australian Government be conveyed to M for his care in classifying plants (presumably from the Babbage expedition) (No. 2473, unit 1859 J, VPRS 1168, PROV). See also B59.10.02.
