I do myself the honor to acquaint you that the Government has granted to this municipality twenty acres of land for the formation of a Botanical Garden — ten acres have been fenced in & cleared: and are now being laid out preparatory to planting: and the Municipal Council are desirous of knowing if they can obtain plants and seeds from the Melbourne Garden at suitable seasons?
S Hannaford Esqre purposes being in Melbourne shortly and kindly promises to call upon you and furnish a description of the nature of the ground and its general aspect as a criterion in selecting shrubs and plants adapted to the locality
