I have the honor to acknowledge the rect of yr Le
of the 10 inst
intimatg yr desire to have permission to proceed in the Victoria to Cape Howe or
Gabo Island for the purpose of examining the vegetation of that part of the Colony
Your communn havg been referd to Captain Norman I am directed in accordance with his
report to inform you that the vessel will proceed to Gabo island on Tuesday (tomorrow)
the 25 instant but that it is desirable on acct of the duties the steamer is under orders for, that she shd return here without loss of time. Captain
Norman however states that you cd be landed at Cape Howe or Twofold Bay & might return
via Sydney by a steamer or you cd be left at Wilson's Promontory, as you suggest to await the return
of the Victoria
