A letter from Edward Wilson to the Editor of the Times, 14 July 1858, appeared in the Argus, 13 October 1858, p. 7, under the title 'The Llama and alpaca'. Wilson noted that
there was a flock of llama/alpaca crosses for sale near London and urged Australians
in England 'to raise the means of purchasing these animals, and sending them out in
one flock to one of the colonies — Victoria, if possible'.
