In Supplement to the Victoria Government gazette, 6 August 1858, p. 149, the members of the Committee of Management of the Zoological Gardens were listed as:
The Honorable Samuel George Evans, L.L.D., M.L.A.; The Honorable Charles Pasley, Capt. R.E.; Frederick McCoy, Esquire, F.G.S.L.; Ferdinand Frederick Mueller, Esquire; Frederick M. Selwyn, Esquire; Thomas Black, Esquire; Thomas Embling, Esquire, M.L.A.; D. S. Campbell, Esquire, M.L.A.; Hugh John Chambers, Esquire; William Henry Archer, Esquire.
In addition to the error in M's name, the given names of Evans were reversed.
