[The Secretary read letters from the Hon. Sir William Foster Stawell and Dr. Mueller, respectively thanking the Institute for the honor done them in the recent elections.

Stawell had been elected President and M Vice-President of the Philosophical Institute of Victoria at the Institute's anniversary meeting on 3 March 1858. Their letters were read at a meeting of the Institute on 24 March 1858. M's letter is dated accordingly.
