The name of the Society was changed to Royal Society of Tasmania in 1855. It would appear that the Society had not yet obtained a new supply of this form.

Sir,
I have the honor to acquaint you that at a General Meeting of the Royal Society of Van Diemen's Land, held on 9th instant, you were duly elected a Member of the Society.
Herewith I furnish you with a copy of the Rules, and I have to call your attention to XII and XIII which require payment of the Annual Contribution, within one month "after notification of the Election has been made."
