I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th Instant reporting the death of the Gazelle placed in the Botanic Gardens some time since.

In reply I have to express my regret at this occurrence and to request that the body of the Gazelle may be forwarded to Professor McCoy to be preserved.
