Sir
I have the honor to inform you, that it would be very desirable to extend the botanical
examination of our colony to the sources of the La Trobe river, and I beg to solicit
your permission for leaving the botanical gardens for a period of not exceeding two
weeks, in order to performe this labour. Should this application be favoured with
your sanction, I would propose to start before the end of this week.
I have the honor to be,
Sir
your most obedient and humblest servant
Ferd Mueller.
The honorable the Chief Commissioner of public Works &c. &c. &c.
