Letter not found. For the text given here, see the Geelong advertiser, 27 January 1858. The letter is dated to January 1858 on the basis that it would be betweeen the petition from the inhabitants of Geelong presented by Dr Thomson on 6 January 1858 to the Victorian Legislative Assembly praying that a sum of money be placed upon the Estimates for the maintenance of their Botanic Gardens and Park.
