M's surviving dated correspondence with Hyndman spans 1858-9. The run of the Gardeners’ chronicle (until 1874 Gardeners' chronicle and agricultural gazette) now in the library of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne commences with the volume for 1844.

I beg to send you one of my old pamphlets of which I have just a spare copy, and which may possibly be of some use to you.

If you will oblige me with the regular loan of the Gardeners Chronicle, I should gladly bear half the expense, until I get my own copy, for which I have written now
