I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your kind note with enclosure,

but regret that according to the rules of the Institute (of which I will send a copy as soon as published) no communication can be inserted in our journal, which received previous publicity. However I hope that you will give us from your rich store of observations an original paper soon. This would give you claim to a corresponding membership, otherwise I shall gladly propose you in the ordinary way.
Your valuable paper I shall be happy to forward in my next letter to Sir Roderick Murchison, with whom I am in communication on geographical matters.
