MS envelope front: 'Capt. Mac Mahon | Chief Commissioner of police | &c &c &c | Melbourne'.
22. Oct. 1857
My dear Capt. Mac. Mahon
Suffering from an attack of bronchitis I have been unable to attend this after noon
at the bot. Garden, and to arrange for to morrows proceedings. But I shall be happy
to send a competent gardener over to you after tomorrow early according to your request.
Unfortunately hardly any shrubs seeds are left at this advanced season; but I shall
gladly send what we have and after the gardeners return be able to judge what else
you may require.
I hope you will allow us to keep the benches a little longer for the use of ladies
and gentlemen attracted by the weekly military music.
Most obediently
yours
Ferd. Mueller.
Capt MacMahon
Chief Commissioner of Police

that when the gentlemen referred to arrive he may be instructed to sow & plant the
spaces lately trenched by the [...]'. The matter was attended to.
