Moore wrote a notice for the Victoria Government gazette, 6 August 1857: 'It is hereby notified that persons desirous of cultivating the Cotton Plant will receive seeds on application to Dr. Müller, Government Botanist, at the Botanical Gardens, Melbourne.'
