1
Letter not found. MS is a register entry only, entered on 6 August 1855. From the acknowledgment (J. Moore to M, 9 August 1855), we learn that M had written from 'Brisbane July 1855'.
[States that he has accepted the appt of Botanist to the North Australian expedition and requests that his leave of absence be extended until his return.]

M's letter was referred to the Commissioner of Public Works on 24 February 1857, no doubt in connection with the reinstatement of his position following his return from the North Australian Expedition.
