The Society, which became the Royal Society of Tasmania in 1856, did not issue the
second part of volume 3 of its journal until 1859 (Noetling (1911), p. 226). Part
2 included three papers by M: two, B60.13.02 and B60.13.03, include material from
the North Australia Exploring Expedition, while B60.13.01, although dated 'Botanic
Gardens, Melbourne, January 1857', is based upon M’s earlier Victorian alpine journeys.
