[Dr. Milligan also read a letter from Dr. Frederick Müeller, Government Botanist of Victoria, relating to the publication in the Society’s Journal of his descriptions of new plants, many of which, he finds, are common to Tasmania and the Australian Alps.

The Society, which became the Royal Society of Tasmania in 1856, did not issue the second part of volume 3 of its journal until 1859 (Noetling (1911), p. 226). Part 2 included three papers by M: two, B60.13.02 and B60.13.03, include material from the North Australia Exploring Expedition, while B60.13.01, although dated 'Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, January 1857', is based upon M’s earlier Victorian alpine journeys.
