16. April 1854.

M appears to have mis-dated this letter, which was surely written after his letter of 18 April notifying Foster that he had returned to Melbourne. The present letter was recorded as having been received at the Colonial Secretary's office on 20 April, whereas the letter notifying Foster that M had returned was received on 19 April.
Sir
In reply to your Circular from 17. March 1854, intimating his Excellencys desire, that I might cooperate in the Commission from this Colony in aid of the Great Exhibition in Paris — I beg to state, that I shall most readily render any service, by which I might be able to promote the desired objects.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
your most obedient and humble servant
Ferd. Mueller.
The honorable the Colonial Secretary.
