Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Baron von Mueller', Advertiser (Adelaide), 2 July 1895, p. 4. The telegram is assumed to have been sent on M's birthday in response to the one sent to him; see S. Way to M, 30 June 1895. It is dated accordingly. The text is introduced by: 'The following telegrams have passed between his Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor and Baron Von Mueller—'.
Deeply touched by generous felicitation of your Excellency, and immensely cheered by the well wishes of South Australia, which great dominion to serve also will be ever a pleasing task, and carry me back to happy days among genial people also there.
Baron von Mueller.
