Since many months, dear Professor Henriques, I have been so much harrassed with local Office-work of urgency, that I lost sight of even your kind intention to translate the "Select Plants",

See M to J. Henriques, 3 May 1889 (in this edition as 89-05-03b). If there was intervening correspondence on this matter, it has not been found. Henriques's translation was not published until 1905 (B05.13.01).

if a Publisher there can be found. Will you be so friendly, to let me know, whether I omitted to fulfil any promises for your effecting the translation. In the very depressed financial state of this Colony my attention is diverted from almost anything except the practical interests of the rural population here.
