It is but right, dear Dr Dyer, that in justice to the wishes and memory of Bentham,
I should mention, - the R.S.
of Adelaide, uninfluenced by myself, has last week at its meeting passed the following
resolution, moved by Prof Rennie, D.Sc., F.C.S., “that the Council of the R.S. of
S.A. be directed, to make inquiries of the QL. Government, whether Mr Bailey is authorized
by them, to write a continuation of the Flora Australiensis, and if the reply be in the affirmative, this Society strongly protests against the
assumption of that title”.
People in all directions here are astounded at the attempt of the encroachment on
my rights and my litterary property, such as the fragmenta &c.
