Mit heutiger Post, geehrter Herr Professor, sende ich Ihnen einige Algen vom Endeavour River in Nord-Ost Australien, und es ist einige Aussicht, mehr von daher zu bekommen, da einstweilen Mr Stephen Johnson ein bezahlter Sammler meines Departements ist, und den Auftrag hat, auch auf Algen zu achten. Da nun dies Sammeln von Tangen gänzlich von mir ausgeht und abhängt, bitte ich Sie, jedes mal meinen Namen bei den Referaten in parenthesi beizufügen, denn ich bin verpflichtet die Ehre der Anstalt und den Record der Wirksamkeit meiner Departements in jeder Hinsicht aufrecht zu erhalten!, zumal da solches von einer annual erneuten Dotation abhängig ist, und daher keine permanente Sicherung hat.
Neulich war Herr Graf Wachtmeister hier, ein prächtiger junger Edelmann, der ja auch für eine Weile Ihr Schüler war, und nun zum Oberrichter Cederkranz besuchend auf der Fahrt nach Samoa ist. Ich habe ihn hier im Schloss beim Gouverneur und manchen anderen hohen Herren eingeführt.

By today's mail, esteemed Professor, I am sending you some algae from the Endeavour River

in northeast Australia, and there is some prospect of getting more from there because Mr Stephen Johnson is a paid collector of my department temporarily and has the task also of paying attention to algae. Now since this collecting of seaweeds proceeds from and depends completely on me, I ask you every time to attach my name in parentheses with the reports, because I am committed to maintain the honour of the institution and the record of effectiveness of my department in every respect, especially since such is dependent on an annually renewed endowment and therefore has no permanent protection.
Recently Count Wachtmeister was here, a splendid young nobleman, who was also your student for a time and now is visiting Senior Judge Cederkranz
