Kew, April 10, 91
My dear Sir Ferdinand,
We have for disposal on behalf of the collector Dr Henry,
a set of his Chinese Collections. It comes to 1166 nos: & the price is £2 per century
with Kew determinations, say £22.10 for the whole. Henry is obliged to sell his plants
to recoup himself for his very heavy expenses in employing native Collectors. All
the first rate herbaria in America and Europe have taken sets & this is the only one
left.

Augustine Henry.
It will be a long time before such a collection is made again & you should certainly
secure one for the Australian herbarium if you have any means for the purpose or can
get some wealthy citizen to present it

M was able to secure the collection on offer; see M to A. McLean, 27 May 1891, and M to W. Thiseleton-Dyer, 2 July 1891. The collection is now at MEL.
Yours sincerely
W. T. Thiselton Dyer
