Obwohl ich kaum weiss, lieber Herr Holtze, wohin ich mich zuerst wenden soll, um den
vielseitigen Verpflichtungen (gerade jetzt durch die Welt-Ausstellung so vermehrt,)
nachzukommen, so habe ich doch gleich einige Stunden frei gemacht, um wenigstens vorläufig
Ihre Pflanzen zu benennen. Der Congress der Ärzte naht auch heran, bei dem ich in
der therapeutisch. Section präsidiren soll.
Bei genauer Untersuchung Ihrer Pflanzen wird sich manches Neue ergeben, auch Standorte
werden zu verzeichnen sein.
In 1887 & 1888 bin ich fast gar nicht zum Arbeiten an Pflanzen gekommen, denn ich
hatte die 7te Ausgabe der Select plants zu besorgen (vergrössert) die Ihnen nun bald
gesandt werden wird. Dann hatte ich eine Excursions-Flora für Victoria zu schreiben,
was eine colossale Arbeit war.

Ich werde damit viel gut thun können.

Kommt die schlanke Orchidee mit langem dünnen gestreiftem Blatt auf Felsen vor? Was
ist die Blüthen Farbe? Die beiden blattlosen Orchideen sind Arten von
Von diesem Genus habe ich 4 Arten für Queensland nachgewiesen, aber aus anderen Gegenden
Australiens sind noch keine Arten bekannt. Es würde die Beschreibungen verbessern
u vollenden, wenn das Blatt, ein
einzelnes rundes
ziemlich grosses jeder Ihrer beiden Pogonien gefunden werden könnte. Das Blatt bricht
hervor, nachdem der Blumenstiel schon abgestorben oder verwelkt ist. Die Blätter könnten
Sie leicht in einem Couvert mit der Post senden, auch gelegentlich Anderes, das besonders
merkwürdig sein mag.

Although I hardly know, dear Mr Holtze, where to turn first to meet the manifold obligations
(just now so much increased by the International Exhibition),
I have nonetheless freed a few hours immediately to name your plants at least provisionally.
The Medical Congress approaches as well, where I am to preside over the therapeutic
section.
With a critical examination of your plants some that are new should result, and new
locations will also be noted.
I have hardly been able to work on plants at all during 1887 and 1888 because I had
to attend to the 7th edition of the Select plants (enlarged),
which will be sent to you soon. Then I had to write an excursion Flora for Victoria,
which was a colossal task.

Does the slender orchid with the long thin striped leaf occur on rocks? What is its
flower colour? The two leafless orchids are species of
. I have established 4 species of this genus for Queensland, but no species are as
yet known from other parts of Australia. It would improve and complete the descriptions,
if the
single, round
, fairly large leaf could be found for each of your two
species.
The leaf emerges after the peduncle has died or wilted. You could easily send these
leaves in an envelope through the mail, also occasionally anything else, that may
be particularly unusual.
