Ich bin eben dabei, verehrter Freund, eine neue vervollständigte Ausgabe meines "Census of Australian plants" für den Druck fertig zu machen, u. so möchte ich Sie bitten freundlichst nachzusehen in Ihrer Universitäts Bibliothek, welche Diuris Swartz in den Act. Holm. 1800 Seite 229 t 3 veröffentlicht hat. Ich kenne dies Citat nur aus Pfeiffer's Nomenclator. Sollte es Swartz's D. elongata gewesen sein, so müsste solche doch wieder den Vorrang über D. punctata haben, welche erst 1804 publicirt wurde. So hätten denn R Brown u alle andere Autoren, ausser Pfeiffer, die erste Notiz von D. elongata übersehen. Könnten Sie mir freundlichst Auskunft hierüber bald zukommen lassen?
Algen sind mir in letzter Zeit fast gar nicht zugegangen, obwohl ich viele Briefe auch 1887 u 1888 schrieb an Colonisten nahe unsern Küsten, um auch in dieser Richtung zum Sammeln zu ermuntern.

ready for the press, and so I would like to ask you most kindly to check in your University library what Diuris Swartz has published in the Acta Holm. 1800 page 229 plate 3.

Swartz (1800); Diuris is illustrated as fig. 'M' on plate 3, but with no specific epithet; no species are listed under the generic characters on p. 229.
I know this citation only from Pfeiffer's Nomenclator.

Should it have been Swartz's D. elongata , it would have to have priority over D. punctata,

which was only published in 1804. Then R. Brown and all other authors, except Pfeiffer, would have overlooked the first notice of D. elongata.

Could you most kindly let me have information about it soon?
Almost no algae at all have reached me recently, although I wrote many letters both in 1887 and 1888 to colonists near our coasts to encourage collecting in this direction as well.
